Little Changes That Improve Academic Success: Priority Mindedness | Theme 1

Academic success doesn’t have to be the story of a few kids down the block.

With little changes, it can be every student’s story. #PRIORITY MINDEDNESS is one of six themes that we will discuss. When considering having a priority mindedness, there are three things to consider and they are:

Think Priority for Yourself

Think Priority for The Students

Think Priority for The Learning Environment

Theme One: Priority Mindedness

As the education landscape continues to evolve, it becomes increasingly important for education caregivers and stakeholders to cultivate the habit of identifying top priorities. Caregivers who give priority to paying attention to themselves, while also considering the needs of the student and the learning environment  – not only see the little things that can create a positive learning impact, but have a greater academic success chance.

But what does it mean to be “priority-minded?” It is simply having the mindset that goes beyond the duty of working hard to give the kid a good education. It is about being intentional with a purposeful plan on how to make a positive impact at every junction.

As a caregiver and stakeholder concerned about “Educational Excellence and Academic Success,” you have a vital role in promoting priority-mindedness.

How can you develop clear priorities for yourself, the student and learning environment?

1. Learning Environment Focus: Understand the learning environment’s needs. Actively get involved, read and stay up to date with the news, ask questions and engage in meaningful conversations. By consistently showing up and contributing to the learning environment’s experiences, you help build the community, create opportunities and make a big difference in academic success.

Make the connection …

“As a working mum of 3 school-aged children it can be quite difficult trying to attend all the appointments: huistarts, hospital, dentist, and school programs.

For the first time yesterday, I was able to volunteer at my kids school during their sponsoorloop event.

It was the whole morning but I found it so refreshing and exciting during the whole event. I was chewing the kids and in some cases running along with them as they ran to raise funds for charity.

I also realized how proud my kids felt to see their mama standing among other parents.

At the end of the event I had achieved more than 12000 steps. Which was a plus in addition to a sound night rest.

Now I’m looking forward to volunteering again next year.” Shared by a parent! – Goodness

2. Change Mindset: Embrace a mindset that encourages change and improvements. Keep up to date about educational trends and activities. Identify areas where the learning environment can improve teaching, learning and how you can contribute to enhance stakeholder’s satisfaction and promote growth.

3. Embrace Accountability: Take ownership for your actions towards academic success in the learning environment. Set priorities and high standards for yourself and endeavor to carry them through. When conflicts or change arise, be solution-oriented and take a position to help find solutions.

Let’s put it together …

When education caregivers are priority-minded, the benefits are unlimited. It fosters an environment of inclusion, oneness, inspires positive change, promotes stakeholder satisfaction, and invariably increases academic success, joy for learning and happiness for everyone.
